Word from Head of Cocoa Business

GNINAHOPHIN Pierre OUATTARA
Head of Group Cocoa Business
Dear partner,
Atlantic Cocoa Corporation (ACC) was born from Mr. KONE DOSSONGUI’s desire to respond to African governments wish to increase the local processing capacities of their raw material.
This was materialized with the commissioning in December 2020 of a 48,000 MT cocoa processing plant expandable to 64,000 MT in Kribi Port Industrial zone in Cameroon and the laying of the first stone on October 2022 of a similar plant with a capacity of 64,000 MT expandable to 100,000 MT in San Pedro – Ivory Coast.
After only 3 years of activities in Cameroon’s plant, we can be delighted with the performance achieved taking into consideration global economy situation since COVID-19 and more recently when a recovery was anticipated, the advent of the Russian Ukrainian conflict.
Indeed, we managed to obtain significant growth in volumes, starting from grinding 6,000 MT in 2021 in Cameroon plant, to 22,000 MT in 2022, and targeting 40 000 MT in 2025.
This performance is the result of our commitment to position ourselves on the international market by offering our customers, products that comply with international norms and standards in order to meet the needs of the greatest chocolate makers.
This is demonstrated by the number of certificates obtained in such a short time in order to respond effectively to the needs of an increasingly demanding market: ISO 9001:2015, FSSC 22000 V 5.1, Halal, Kosher, Novolyse 6 Log, Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, SEDEX 4 pillars.
We are delighted that our young team has understood the challenge that is ours and is involved daily with dedication for the satisfaction of all our partners that you are.
Focusing on inexperienced young people straight out of the best National Universities and High Schools was a big risk that we took in order to respond to the problems of youth employment, ensure an intergenerational transfer of skills and offer a chance to people who have distinguished themselves by their academic excellence.
We are proud to see these young people working today with skills, autonomy and without complexes in management positions.
Dear partner, on the way to San Pedro green field plant, we have taken over CONDICAF plant in Abidjan with a capacity of 48 000 MT beans equivalent grinding capacity. We are pleased to inform you that we resume the production on this site since October 2024 and are very happy to continue giving jobs to talented youth.
Today with Kribi Plant (Cameroon), Abidjan Plant (Ivory Coast), tomorrow adding San Pedro Plant (Ivory Coast), we will be serving to you the same quality cocoa products (liquor, butter, cake and powder) under a unique brand (ACC) with two origins.
Our ambition is to hand over to present and future generations the desire of improving the living conditions of populations and particularly cocoa farmers through processing at the origins.
